Welcome to the Passel Frequently Asked Questions.
You can either search for an answer below, or just scroll down.
If you can’t find an answer to your question, please email service@passel.com.au or submit your question at the bottom of this page.
In the app, click on your email.
Select “Remove Account”.
Is it rude of me to ask why? We’re just getting started and any feedback would be really helpful.
Passel needs your location so we know if you are in the right place at the right time.
The goal of Passel is to request you to a delivery from wherever you are to wherever you are going.
We cannot send deliveries to your phone if the Passel App does not have access to your location.
Comment on this FAQ
When a delivery becomes available, Passel needs to alert you to the opportunity.
Remember, we’re not Uber. You don’t have to have the App open to be sent a delivery request.
If you have disabled notifications, you will probably miss out on the chance to make $10!
Comment on this FAQ
No.
Passers do not work shifts and Passel does not have to compete for driver loyalty in the gig economy against delivery apps.
If you really want to understand more about why the “Uber for Couriers” model doesn’t work and why Passel does, check out this article:

Comment on this FAQ
Of course, you can!
At the moment, we need you to send an email to service@passel.com.au and let us know what you’d like changed.
In the future, we’ll run it all through the app.

We are really really serious about protecting your privacy.
Basically, for 99% of the time, each Passer is just a really long random code of numbers and letters. No one knows who is who.
It’s only when you accept a job that we identify you as an individual. That’s so we can let the retailer know who is coming in to pick up, the receiver know who is delivering, and we can send you the right $10 reward,
Basically, there’s a completely separate database with your personal info, but that doesn’t have your location.
We’re a bit Heisenberg. We can identify who you are, or where you are, but not both at the same time!

Our customers – retailers – prepare an order in-store.
They let Passel know that an item is ready to be delivered and they let us know the delivery information.
Passel then selects a Passer based on a number of factors, including:
– Passer current location
– Passer home or work address
– Receiver Address
The Passer can say “Yes” or “No”. If they say yes, they will receive the following:
1) Advice on the store details.
2) Advice on the nature of the items.
3) A reference number to quote at Pickup.
Once the item has been collected, the Passel Member will receive delivery information and delivers within the agreed timeframe.
How do I get a job and how do I accept

Soon we will have a special page in the App to manage your account, access your special details and change your information. Until then, there is a link at the bottom of every Passer Update you have received that says “Update your Preferences”. Click that, and you can change stuff.
Alternatively, just drop us a line at marshall.hughes@passel.com.au and we can change your info.

With the exception of providing your name and email address to our partners so they can issue a gift certificate, Passel will not share any identifiable information with anyone.

We’re not accountants or lawyers or the ATO, so we can’t advise on a specific case.
In general, this sort of reward is sporadic and not something people are going to do for a living, and will in most cases be only $10-$20 a week. It’s a bit like being a mystery shopper or filling out a survey and getting a small gift.
Whether you would pay tax on that would be a question for your tax person.
The exception is if you are a professional driver/courier. In that case, this is definitely income and we believe would probably be taxable.

You can, but then we won’t know where you are.
If we don’t know where you are, we can’t offer you a Passel delivery.
Keeping location tracking on also helps us anticipate who the best Passer is for a delivery as we can predict where you might go next.
Our data suggests Passel uses between 0.5% and 2% of your battery, depending on your phone and how active you are.
Are your services in Newcastle yet?
Comment on this FAQ
There might be a number of reasons for this.
First, we started in Melbourne, and then will expand to Sydney and Brisbane in late April 2018.
Adelaide, Perth and then other cities will follow.
So, if you live in a place we currently don’t service, you won’t see any deliveries.
Secondly, Passel chooses the “least inconvenienced” Passer.
So, you have to be in the right place at the right time!

Most Passel stores sell items such as giftware, clothes, shoes, sporting goods, etc.
It might be easier to tell you what we don’t deliver:
No alcohol
No tobacco
No firearms or weapons
No schedule drugs
No temperature sensitive food – hot or cold
The heaviest item you will deliver is 20kg.
Comment on this FAQ
You don’t have to keep the app open, but it does have to be running in the background.
As long as you have location awareness and notifications enabled, we’ll let you know if there is a delivery nearby.
